Welcome
We bid you a warm Christian welcome to the website of The Church of Scotland Parish of Fortrose & Rosemarkie. Please see our ‘Ministry’ page for a welcoming message from the Minister.
Sunday morning services are held throughout the year at 11.30 am (see our ‘Worship‘ page).
The Parish has two church buildings located in the adjacent seaside villages of Fortrose & Rosemarkie on the south-facing coast of The Black Isle, about 13 miles from Inverness and from Dingwall.
The congregations of Fortrose and Rosemarkie were united in 1967, with worship continuing in the churches of both villages. There are some 180 communicants and adherents. We have a typical rural parish mix of middle-aged and older folk, many of whom are active in the Church, with some young families with children. The congregation is an active one with several Elders trained and able to take worship when needed.
We welcome to our services and other church activities individuals of all denominations and ages - including tourists and other visitors.
Fortrose Church is situated at the east end of the Fortrose High Street, on the A832 , and Rosemarkie Church, one mile farther on, is located off the High Street at Church Place. (see our ‘Contacts & Map‘ page for directions). Both churches are accessible to the disabled and are equipped with induction loops for the hard-of-hearing. Car-parking is available.
In Fortrose there are three other Christian Churches, the Free Church of Scotland, St Andrew’s Scottish Episcopal Church and the Roman Catholic Church of St Peter & St Boniface. Happy, constructive and collaborative interactions prevail among the four churches, and the congregations support each others’ Christian work, for example in the annual Christian Aid Week, in charitable fund-raising activities etc.
